Mullum Roots Festival was on last weekend, and it was a fantastic display of community engagement.

People were laughing - sharing their colour - and enjoying wonderful sets of music.

Highlights included:

Topaz Lyon and Pete Davis

Attraction with a dangerous intoxicating edge

Testify!

A piece of love?

Let me tell you a story, about Spirit, creation, dangerous, intoxicating love..?

4 eyes water boy (Martin)

Let's not fight anymore

I'm drowning in the sea

Food shopping was 30 now 100!

Look in the mirror, could you be the killer? But... Are you the cure?

Depression

Losing Wife

Digitised soul

The end of time is here

Falling

Exploitation and despair

We need privacy...? Or are the secrets the problem...

Doesn't matter, we'll break them and take it all for us all.

1000, 1000/years free

The soul movers

Testify

The parties start in the kitchen

Fabulous power women lead with heaps of colour , supported by men.

B

Emily Lubitz

From Melbourne

Awesome honest, authentic, country vibe.

Similar age and idea areas.

Made me excited to want to explore the world, and just see where we landed, hopeful that something cool could happen anytime.

The Imprints

Moved my Soul with violin and drum kit.

Electric violin, with different layers of sound.

Hit on a few different genre's, with a signature sound.

Was especially drawn in consciously by the gipsy type vibe, with the strong, powerful lead, and the surrounding support.

Felt very ancient, and very minimal - as in, what else do you need, but playing music and dancing with each other, type vibe.

Wild Thyme

3 chicks, playing strings - guitar, double base, and violin.

Sound melded really well together, and was familar, while being distinctive.

Made beautiful feminine sounds, and all felt very nice.

Played through a number of genre's, with some more familiar, and more unique stuff.

David Bridie

Was a deeply expressive soul, with a mastery of poetry.

Stripped back, and raw, with the voice and the keys, supported by a single mellow, psychedelic guitar.

Worked really well.

Lou Bradley

Rediculously good country singer, who got involved in many things.

Kingfisha

A modern, feel good band, with cool and fun vibes, that nicely balanced feeling, fun, and dancing.

Shane Howard

Classic rocker, with rich stories, that's still rocking it.

The Waifs

Class band, with the stage presence to go with it.

The two "sisters" that were fronting it, were particularly awesome together - very funny, and completely and utterly in their very talented comfort, making the amazing seem and feel easy.

Would move just about anyone.

Trombone Kellie Gang

Super fun and vibey band, that will make you want to move.

Versace Boys

Class act

On the surface, a light, fun, cheeky vibe.

But beyond this, they're selling a theme of deeply open, proud, and vibrant personal expression.

They are de-armouring some really challenging topics, making ideas that can be really hard to approach, seem like heaps and heaps of fun to explore.

They've got some talent too, and a very tight show, from clearly many hours spent simply on the stage, doing their thing.

Highly recommended as one to watch - and wonder - what is your loudest, proudest expression? How can you make your most difficult topics sound fun to explore?

A man trying to escape nobody, arrives in Nimbin, sucked into an energetic vortex.

He lands almost immediately at the feet of a spunky lady, working in the market.

They immediately fall into heart connections, and exchange numbers.

The man disappears in a whirlwind.

After many trials and tribulations for weeks, the man expresses a beautiful heartfelt message back.

No response..

But randomly, without a shadow of thought, but a whole bunch of feeling, they find themselves looking each other in the eyes again, with interest blossoming.

They later connect on a dancefloor - the man had found himself lost again, drifting in seas of amazing souls.

This woman picks him out, and immediately engages with effortless, easy, and fun experiences.

They exchange many aligned principles, ideas of fun, and ways of life.

But energetically, it feels like life won't align for this pair.

Something missing in the air..?

Something pulling at the soul...

He withdrew his interest, sure he did not want to hurt such a beautiful creature.

They run into each other again and again - first, outside a voting booth, where neither got to vote.

Then, with her name wofting on the breeze, she appeared straight from a fairy forest, dressed in magical finery.

Despite an edge in the interaction, they still connected.

Was this a distraction?

Or was everything else distracting...?

There was nothing sticking that night, and their ways parted into the breeze that had carried them together.

Days later, another vortex.

A slight pull.

A murmer.

Intriguing.

What was it.

Again, as moving closer, and a comfort straight away. Connection. Fun and interesting things flowed so naturally from her mouth, it was like she was the dream itself.

There were so many reasons not to be there.

So many other stakeholders, people, energies would not approve.

This is not how the story should go...

But nevertheless, the man couldn't find a way to pull himself away. Filled with the idea of just running away together and never looking back.

He offered a hand of spontaneity.

She declined in the moment, while leaving wafts of interest and intrigue behind.

The rest is unknown...

Last night, Oskar Allen, one of the best, most respected names in psychedelic dub, rolled into the oasis, and threw down an impromptu set . With a career spanning decades and appearances at Boom, Ozora, and Burning Man, Grouch (Oscar Allison) is easily one of the top producers in the global scene — and this unexpected session reminded everyone why. No hype, no fuss — just great vibes. Everyone agreed - the magic is coming back to Nimbin.

The oasis will be open again tomorrow Thursday night for poetry, and interesting ideas are forming.
